Core-Shell ZnO@Cu2O as Catalyst to Enhance the Electrochemical Reduction of Carbon Dioxide to C2 Products

The copper-based catalyst is considered to be the only for electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction produce a variety of hydrocarbons, but its low selectivity and current density C2 products restrict development. Herein, core-shell xZnO@yCu2O catalysts CO2 was fabricated via two-step route. high 49.8% on ZnO@4Cu2O (ethylene 33.5%, ethanol 16.3%) with an excellent total 140.1 mA cm?2 achieved over this structure in flow cell, which twice that Cu2O. activity ECR attributed synergetic effects ZnO core Cu2O shell, not enhanced coordinating electron, improved HER overpotential, fastened electron transfer, also promoted multielectron involved kinetics ethylene production. This work provides some new insights into design highly efficient Cu-based electrocatalysts enhancing high-value products.
